Information for practitioners

This section contains links to information of relevance to practioners working with young people in Portsmouth.


This part of our website is divided into three sections:

Information, Advice and Guidance is for practitioners whose role is helping young people make the right learning and career choices and enabling them to make a successful transition into adulthood. It contains links to information on sector skills, labour market informaiton, the 14 - 19 reform, including statutory guidance on the delivery of impartial careers guidance and other useful information.

Positive Activities is for practitioners whose role is providing young people with positive things to do and places to go according to the national standards, including educational, cultural and recreational activities; sports, volunteering and participation.

Targeted Youth Support is for practitioners whose role is to support vulnerable young people who may not meet traditional thresholds for statutory or specialist services but who, without help, are at future risk of further problems such as substance misuse, youth offending, teenage pregnancy and homelessness.

IYSS has a Professional Practice Library containing curriculum resources, careers guidance and relevant information on all issues affecting young people.
