Young Carers Revolution is a movement of change for young carers in York. They believe that by developing their voice and using it well, young carers can make a positive difference to issues they face.
The group of 20 young carers have made a 15 minute film entitled 'The Unusual Suspects' which aims to raise awareness among teachers of the pressures young carers face. Research estimates that there are up to 30 young carers in every secondary school. Many of them combine caring for memtally or physically disabled family members with shopping, cooking , doing he laundry, looking after younger siblings and keeping up with their studies. Their domestic demands often leave them tired and unable to complete their school work.
The young carers' film was funded through Mediabox, a fund offering 13 to 19 year olds the opportunity to create their own media projects.

Fancy yourself as a critic?
Think you've got what it takes to be a critic? Then why not enter the Guardian's young arts critic competition. Send a review of between 300 and 350 words of an album, film or concert that inspires – or disappoints, or – annoys – you this summer. They'll be judging the competition in eight different categories: film, pop, visual art, theatre, TV, classical music, dance and architecture. The judges – who include rapper Tinchy Stryder, artist Yinka Shonibare and chair of Arts Council England Liz Forgan – will be looking for powerful, persuasive voices, with original opinions and a flair for expressing them. Each category will be judged in two age groups: under 14s and 14-18-year-olds.
