Choices Post 16
So you're over 16 and still need to make choices about your career. You may already be on a one-year course at sixth form or college - but what will you do when it's over? What are your options? And most importantly, what's the best route to getting your dream job?
You may want to continue with your education but are not sure how or where to study. You might be unsure which course to follow or feel the time is right for you to get a job. For general advice check out the Direct Gov Young People website where you can find lots of useful information.
If you've had enough of the classroom, get other ideas for training and ways to get ahead if you are not interested in going to University

Having a disability shouldn't be a barrier to going to university or college. Visit After 16 or Skill – websites promoting opportunities for young people and adults with any kind of disability in post-16 education, training and employment across the UK.

Go to e-clips and enter the postcode for your local Connexions centre for more comprehensive information on all types of jobs and career paths or try one of the general careers information websites such as Careers A-Z. If you're not sure what you would like to do, visit a careers adviser at your local Connexions Centre.

There are lots of choices out there and it can be difficult to know which to choose! Don’t forget, there's a lot of support to help you decide your future. You’re not on your own! Contact your IAG adviser in school or in your local centre if you need to talk through your options.
If you are over 18 the Adult Advancement and Careers Service (AACS) can help with training and getting back into work, but also offers advice on childcare, money matters, housing and more.
